Leandro Nyza was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu exceeds 25 years of training and has spent over 10 years in his career as a black belt. For nearly all his life, Nyza trained under Wendell Alexander who is the co-founder of Nova União, one of the best Jiu Jitsu schools in the world.

Leandro Nyza currently holds the rank of 4th degree black belt. Some of his achievements include:
-2000 LINJJ (Niteroi League of Jiu Jitsu) black belt champion
-1999 Rio de Janeiro state champion (black belt)
-1997 World Championships Silver medalist (brown belt)
-1995 Brazil National Champion (brown belt)
-1995 Pan American Championships Silver medalist (purple belt)

In the year 2000, Leandro Nyza moved to Hawaii to help UFC veterans  BJ Penn and Renato “Charuto” Verissimo and other experienced fighters like Brandon and Brenton Wolff of MMA Development.  Leandro Nyza’s knowledge ranges from basic techniques to advanced techniques of Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Wrestling.
